With every Utah mountain elopement I capture, I fall even more in love with photography. The full-day elopement I shot with Jules + Travis in the mountains of Alta is a perfect example of why. Their session was cozy, nostalgic, adventurous, and filled with the kind of love that inspires novels. If ever there was a representation of, “I would ask you to marry me again and again for the rest of our lives,” it’s them. They chose to elope in one of the most magical places in Utah, surrounded by the beauty of Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Jules and Travis wanted a day that allowed them the space to soak each other in and adventure together. Their Utah elopement in Little Cottonwood Canyon was intimate, romantic, and all the things I love to see as an elopement photographer! Their day was filled with stunning views of the Wasatch Mountains, laughter, and pure joy. It was a deeply emotional shoot for everyone involved as Travis chose to “ask her to marry him” again and I was able to document the moment for them to treasure for years to come. I absolutely loved getting to witness the love they share in such a beautiful location. We spent the full day together and incorporated lanterns to help guide our path on the way back down, which added an extra touch of cozy ambiance to the already breathtaking scenery.
The AirBNB that Jules and Travis booked for their stay in Salt Lake City was such a vibe on its own. I personally loved the Victorian style of the house, and the way the lighting fell inside the kitchen + stairwell was a photographer’s dream! The house was surrounded with mountains and trees that gave a PNW feel, which was fantastic for some of the backyard first look photos I shot They booked the AirBNB for both getting ready and enjoying time together after our hike for an intimate couples session. I was able to document the day from start to finish for them, from breakfast (and kisses) in the cozy little kitchen to a romantic bubble bath later in the day. Every little moment of your wedding day will be a big memory, and I’m passionate about capturing those memories!
Unfortunately, it looks as though this particular house is on the market, but there are endless choices of other AirBNBs in the area and I can’t recommend these sessions enough.
For couples staying in the Sugarhouse area, you’re in luck! We recently got a Trader Joe’s, so shopping for a cozy breakfast or dinner in is simple. Please know, however, that if you’re looking to have a celebratory drink of anything other than beer or seltzer (pretty much the only alcohol you’ll find in a typical grocery store here in Utah), you’ll want to stop at a liquor store. Otherwise, there are tons of options for breweries, local eateries, and fun things to do in the area. Nearby, there are also beautiful national park locations for those looking to extend their trip into a full adventure. And the best part? The Trax system is great for getting from point A to point B without having to Uber or rent a car!
My number one tip if you’ll be hiking in Little Cottonwood Canyon? Wear hiking boots! For where we shot Jules’ + Travis’ photos, it’s not a super long hike, but it’s still a bit of a walk & you’ll be grateful you planned ahead. Second, this is not a dog-friendly hike. I know that’s a bummer if you wanted to include your pup, but we can compromise & come up with some great alternatives for the same vibe. If you’re considering eloping here, I’d love to help plan your dream day!
